How to operate the EMC PowerPath License Tool

Hi, all

Our server is PE 2950, the operation system is Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, the disk array is AX150i. When I install the PowerPath at this server I see the following steps:

1. It let me select "Do you have only AX series CLARiiON arrays connected to this host?", we have the AX150i only now, but I am not sure if we'll add another disk array that is not the AX series later, so I select the "No" option, and next.

2. I select the "Typical Install"

3. There is the "EMC PowerPath Licensing Tool" window pop up when the installation procedure. I click the "Cencel", then there is prompt "PowerPath will be unlicensed the next time this machine is rebooted. Is this what you want to do?", I click "No", and then the installation is successfully.

My questions: Where can I get the license key? The PowerPath can work normally if I don't enter the license key and we have AX150i only?

Thank you!

Powerpath when used with an AX system is free, so you should click yes when asked if you only have AX.

If you want to add a different Dell | EMC array ie a CX then you will buy powerpath licenses for the number of gosts you want to attach to it and enter them during the install.

Tommo666 is correct, PowerPath for AX-Series is free.  The only thing answering "No" does during the installation is prompts the user to enter a license key.  PowerPath will recognize if it is connected to an AX-Series or CX-Series and if there is no license key entered, it will provide unlicensed basic failover for the CX-Series while providing full failover and load balancing for AX-Series.
