help make DD610 useable!
ok so heres the scenario. my company decided to tear down its onsite data center and move to an offsite location. in doing this i was given a Data Domain dd610 as well as various other servers and cabinets and all sorts of stuff. i traded all the drives out for 2tb drives and really just want to use it as a NAS for my home network. The BiOS shows the drives mounted but when i try to install TrueNAS or even just Win10 it tells me there are no storage drives availble to install the OS.
so my question is this... is there something im missing or something i need to try and reset to get this to work? i dont understand why the drives show up on the bios but not when i try to install an OS. has anyone done this before and if so...how do i make it work?

Hello Trevin,
Your DD610 has raid controllers in them that hold your configuration, & then is presented to your host. Secondly when you switched the drives if you didn’t use EMC approved drives then your drives are most likely not being seen correctly by your DD. What you are trying to use your DD610 for will not be possible.

ok so if i made sure they were approved drives or simply switched them back to the originals that was in there what would i need to do to make it a useable storage server? i assume that the part that isnt possible is installing win10 or truenas to use it that way. essentially i want to use it as storage for my plex server and as it is right now its kind of just a fancy HDD holder.

With original drives you could get it to connect to a server and then run plex on the server. This setup is outside of the scope we can help with but it should be possible to make it work.
