Got any ideas about Datasafe local backup?

I had some problems with my inspiron 530 recently so i decided to do a system recovery, before doing that i did a back up with Dell Datasafe local recovery.

it created a backup file called emergency and i selected "everything" to be backed up. after performing the system recovery i went to the emergency folder and tried to restore all my documents, most of them were there, but my problem is, i had loads of jpegs and when i try to open anything (even if it's labled jpeg) all i have is video's but all my photo's appear to have vanished !  All the folders are there but only with video's BUT NO PHOTO"S

can anyone suggest what is going on?
