Dell XPS T700R, Need help combining two hard drives into one spanned volume.
I have an old, but functioning Dell XPS T700R with upgraded Windows XP SP3 OS and a Maxtor 20 Gig hard drive. The 'C' drive is 98% full with windows security patches and updates. I can't delete any more unneeded files from it. I added another internal hard drive (Seagate 20 Gig) in the extra disk space provided for upgrades. The extra hard drive 'F' is not linked to 'C'. I want to link both drives together to create a spanned volume, but I'm not sure how to do it. The 'C' drive is FAT32 file system. From what I have read, I think I have to convert to NTFS filing system to combine disks. I don't think I have enough space left on the "C" drive to do anything at all! So how do I accomplish this?
Do I copy everything (take an image) from "C" to a usb 20 gig flash drive, delete all info on both disks and then go to diskmgmnt.msc to create the new spanned volume?
Do I then copy everything from the flash drive (including the OS) to the newly spanned volume "C" drive?
Is there a Method of Procedure on how to do all of the above?
Also, when connecting the extra internal hard drive, do I use the same ribbon that the primary IDE device is connected to, or do I add another ribbon to the IDE Controller (Promise Technology) card? I think I should probably use the same ribbon that is stamped IDE 2.
Thanks for any advice.

I need dynamic hard drives and Windows XP Professional to span a volume. I have neither, so I will just buy a new 40 gig disk instead. (p.s. I have a new computer. I keep the old XPS t700r as a hobby).
