Dell SCV3020: Change HBA from SAS to Fiber Chanel
Hi all,
I bought a used Dell SCV3020 storage system which is currently equipped with mini SAS connectors (cards: ASA-80165H/DELL) but which I don't see in the hardware inventory from iDRAC.
I'd like to convert it to a system with 16 Gigabit/s Fibre Channel connectors.
I've located the DELL QLogic QLE2662 Fibre Channel cards.
According to the compatibility chart (found here: https://dl.dell.com/content/manual51684295-dell-emc-storage-compatibility-matrix-for-sc-ps-and-fs-series-arrays.pdf) they are apparently compatible with my SCV3020.
I've found the method for removing the ASA-80165H cards: easy
Information: I'll do a reset to factory settings on the complete machine.
My question:
Will I have to do anything other than replace the cards to get it to work?
Thanks in advance, folks.

I have convert a couple of 5020 with SAS to 10G by replacing the Mezz board. Within DSM there is a HW replace option.
The 3020 also have a addional PCIe slot.... you should go this route. Speaken about 10G iSCSI compellent does not support Broadcom/Intel instead they use Chelsy(cant remember) or so. So the question is which maker of FC Cards they use.
I dont perform a factory reset/purge because i dont want to mess around with the license which is needed.

Joerg

you can use ac hwchange command to chagne the configuration and commit it. reboot is needed when you finish the configuration change

Btw. the PDF you linked contains a Host support matrix and not the compellent internals. But i think with a DELL QLogic QLE2662 it should work.
