DELL MD3220 RAID Battery Replacement
Hello all,
Received a warning on the PowerVault MD Storage Manager that there is a problem with the RAID battery and it needs replacing.
I ordered two batteries (one for each controller). Only one is being reported as failed, should I replace both?
Also, having no experience with this failure is there a specific procedure I should follow in order to replace the battery?
Many thanks for your time.

Hello Peeceenoob,
I would replace both. You can review a support bundle from your system and look at the battery age of the other battery to see if it is going to need to be replaced soon or not. Here is a link to the users guide for replacing the battery. https://dell.to/3y93rvs
I would make sure that you move all virtual disk to alt controller before you power off the controller to replace the battery.

Thanks for the reply Sam L.
So are you saying that I should do the batteries one at a time?
1. Make sure all disk are moved to other controller (need to research that too)
2. Replace battery
3. Move all disks back to controller with new battery
4. Replace 2nd battery
5. Drink a beer
Would you say that these are the correct steps?
Thanks

Hello Peeceenoob,
That is correct that you want to replace the batteries one at a time. The steps that you have listed are correct. Here is a link to the administrator guide just in case you need it. https://dell.to/3ndIER6
