CX400 and Direct attach
Is it possible to take a CX400 and direct attach this to a server?
Our 2 CX400's are not covered under warranty, and it would be nice to remove the complexity and just attach the units to servers for Backup storage.

Yes, just cable from the hba's to the ports on the cx. You can attach 2 servers with 2 hba's (1 to each SP) or 4 servers with 1 hba (no failover). As long as the servers have the navi agent installed they should register with the cx. From there it's the same as through a switch. This setup is called DAS (direct attach storage) as opposed to SAN (storage area network) and is a fully qualified and supported setup.
There may be some housekepping tasks on the cx like de-registering previous servers. Dell can talk you through that as phone support is sort of lifetime.

One thing I'd add is that you'll want to make sure you have Powerpath installed, and to use 2 connections (HBAs), you'll need to have a license key installed for Powerpath.
