CX300i secondary SPS error
Hi,
We just installed a new SPS for SPB on our SAN. Previously we had only an SPS for SPA.
After installing the new SPS, the SPA LED was green (of course - we were on normal power), but the SPS light was amber. I suspected at the time that it just needed to charge.
However after 3 days the SPS still has amber lights and the management software shows a fault for the SAN - specifically with that SPS.
The SPS shows 2 amber lights and the information I've been able to find seems to indicate a bad SPS. The bad news is that the unit sat around in a box for quite a while waiting until I could get time coordinated to take the SAN down.
The instructions that came in the box were not very accurate. I am wondering if new units normally (or can) require any kind of internal wiring prior to installing (such as connecting the main battery lead or something).
If not, can the unit go bad just from sitting and not being plugged in for a couple of months?
Thanks for your input!

This info is based on the CX300, but I suspect the CX300i works the same way.
In Navisphere, expand the hardware section, dig down to the SPS, right click it and select properties. Verify that it's reporting a valid cabling status. If it says unknown, make sure you have the serial cable connected to the correct serial port on SPB.

I had checked status after installing it (and rebooting CIMOM) and at that point it was valid.
I subsequently swapped sense cables between SPA and SPB. Now SPB SPS shows unknow cabling - I think I rebooted CIMOM after that but cant remember for sure...
