cx300 fibre connections
Does anyone know if I can plug both fibre ports from an sp on a cx300 into the same fibre switch to maximize throuput as opposed to just increase resilience? Likewise on the server is it possible to add more hba's and get powerpath to aggregate the links to the cx300?

A recommended setup would be:
- CX300
- 2 FC switches; one gets SPA0 and SPB1, the other switch gets SPA1 and SPB0
- 2 HBAs in each server; one to each switch
- create single initiator, single target zones (so just 2 entries in each zone (HBA and 1 SP port)), though single initiator, multi-target is acceptable (HBA and both SPA0+SPB1 (or SPA1 and SPB0 depending on which switch it is)
Make sure you install the proper (EMC certified) driver and firmware for the HBA for your OS (if you have a Powerlink account you can custom build an EMC support matrix for your setup with the E-lab Navigator (takes a little getting used to, but once you've used it once it's real easy), but if you don't have a Powerlink account you can get the complete pdf from here).
To use failover and loadbalancing you want to:
- install the latest Powerpath version supported by your OS
- add the license key (part of the installer)
- reboot
Without the license key Powerpath will only use 1 HBA and do basic failover (from that 1 HBA to the 2 ports that it can see); failover to the other HBA would require a reboot of the server (if the HBA that was being used failed or so).
