Connecting two Dell EMC AX100i together as a single storage unit.
I have two Dell EMC AX100i's with 2TB of storage a piece. I need to connect these two devices together to act as a single storage unit with a realized capacity of 4TB. Currently the connections are via iSCSI to two different servers. I need to know how to configure on the backend, and I need to the finalzied configuration to be a single drive instance within Windows Server 2003. For example I need drive N: within Windows Server 2003 to show 4TB of usable storage. Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Eric

In short: it's not possible.
2 arrays cannot 'work together' to make a single large piece of disk space.
And the really bad idea of using dynamic disk isn't an option with Windows 2003, as 2003 doesn't support dynamic disks when using the (software) Microsoft iSCSI initiator (source: Microsoft's release notes for the iSCSI initiator).
You could:
- upgrade to 2008 and use dynamic disk (I wouldn't recommend this though)
- upgrade the drives in 1 of the AX100i's to larger ones that could make a single 4TB virtual disk to meet your needs (when replacing the first 4, make sure to replace 1, let it rebuild the private space part, and only then switch to the next drive (rinse and repeat for disks 0 to 3). This would also require the flare code to be on at least 02.19.100.5.xxx.
- buy an AX4-5i with larger drives; this allows you to daisy chain up to 4 additional disk enclosures to support a maximum of 60 harddrives
