Big problem with failed Dell/EMC expansion unit

I have a Dell/EMC CX300 SAN that has three DAE's hooked up to one DPE2.  The third DAE keeps failing and the event log says something like "Dup End Addr - Shunted" then the disks in the DAE fail, and finally it says "Storage Array Faulted Bus 0 Enclosure 3: Missing".  This happened once before and after powering down the whole SAN it came up fine and was running great for about a month.  One other odd thing is there are no amber lights on the failed enclosure at all.  Everything else is working as it should be, but I do see an error that says "Hard Peer Bus Error".  After much Google searching I have come to the conclusion that I should just replace the whole expansion DAE rather than the individual components.  In Navisphere, I did a resume on one of the working DAE's and noted the part number "100-560-130".  When I search for a replacement using that part number all I come up with is a DAE2 which says that its for a CX200 and CX700.  I guess my question is, is it possible to use that DAE2 (fiber channel) with my existing CX300 (FC) SAN?  Any help is much appreciated!

I'd open a case with Dell|EMC support. They have a pretty decent knowledge of these type of systems.

My first thoughts are that you either have a bad LCC or the enclosure ID isn't set 100%.

I would check the log and just before the duplicate enclosure ID message (and the enclosure being shunted), I'd look to see as what enclosure ID that enclosure may be coming up as. Also check which specific side this is coming up on (or if it's on both sides). If it's on one of the 2 sides and the next steps don't work/fix the issue, you may have found your suspect LCC.

I would plan for some downtime (safest is the whole SAN array, but at the very least shut down the servers using any storage on this enclosure).

If you can shut down the whole array, if this is a DAE2/DAE2-ATA, use the dip-switch and cycle all the way through the enclosure IDs and set it back to 3. If it's a DAE2P, power up only this one DAE, use a paperclip or so and cycle through all enclosure IDs till you're back on ID 3. Then power up the other DAEs and then power up the DPE.

Now you try this (may take a while to determine if it's really fixed, but there probably won't be a quick solution anyway).

@Dev Mgr  Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help!  The enclosure that was showing up as duplicate in the logs is identified as "Enclosure 0", which is really odd.  You mention cycling through the enclosure ID's and that is exactly what I did the first time this problem showed up.  I actually found a DAE2 on eBay for only $199 so I ordered that and hopefully this one won't have the same issues.  Even if there is nothing wrong with the DAE2 at least I have a spare one in case one of the LCC's or something else goes bad.  Thanks for your input and if this issue continues with the new one I guess I am going to have to get some support on this.  I will also try your suggestion about the LCC.  Thanks again for your help!
