Backup 2 x CX4-240 storage array to a fibre tape device via SP's ?
Hi, I'm looking for some information regarding backing up blade servers running ESX 4 Update 1 to a fibre tape device.
I have 48 x M610 blade servers accessing 2 x CX4-240 storage array. Does anyone know of a fibre tape device that I can "connect / zone" to the CX4-240 and use some EMC/Dell tools via the SP to backup?
I'm not even sure what software can be run on the CX4 for backups to tape, the blade enclosure is a M1000e with Brocade 4424 FC switches.
Any help/comments appreciated.

This isn't possible. EMC's clariion range doesn't offer server-less backups.
You'll have to use a VCB proxy or so (in combination with your preferred backup software (e.g. BackupExec)) and give this VCB proxy server access to the LUNs that the VMs reside on. The backup server would then 'snap' the VM (by telling the VC to take the snap), read the vmdk file from the VMFS filesystem (via fiber) and push it to tape (via fiber). There are probably better ways and definitely more indepth ways to explain this, but from what I understand about VCB that's roughly how it works.
