AX150i UPS Cable
I need to attach the UPS cable from my SAN to the UPS, but I need to do it when the SAN is running. In the past I have plugged serial cables into UPSs and they have shutdown immediately. I just wanted to see if anyone knows if the SAN will freak out if I install the cable while it is running. Thanks!

I don't know why the SAN would shut down when plugging in the serial cable to the UPS. I have seen more than once that a reboot of SPA is needed to detect the UPS if it wasn't plugged in on boot, but that's a whole different story.

I guess I am not worried about the SAN shutting down as much as the UPS shutting down. Some APC devices do this. Once I inserted a WEB/SNMP card into a MasterSwitch, and it immediately turned off, then back on. In the distant past I have had UPSs go to battery power after installing the serial cable, and the UPS initiated server shutdowns. I am just a little twitchy when it comes to APC communications cables. :)

Well I was right. I attached the serial cable and the UPS immediately turned off.

The UPS cannot have a smart card or so plugged in for the serial port to work.
Remove any smart card or USB cable and only use the serial port to the array. If you look at the cabling guides for the AX100 you never see any USB cables or smartcards in the guides.
