AX100 Without APC Unit
Has anyone ever successfully configured an AX100 to work without the supplied APC unit? Our Data Center runs off of an 80 kVa APC unit. The APC unit that must be connected to the AX100 seems overly redundant in my situation. Surely there is a way to configure the AX100 or modify the serial cable to make it work as if the APC unit was connected.

If you want to run with the write cache enabled, you'll have to connect that APC 750. However, if you can live without write cache, you can run the AX100 all day long without the APC 750. It will have a permanent error light and warning (in Navisphere Express), but work just fine.
Storage processor A checks with the UPS nearly non-stop to see if the battery is good. If not, it disables the write cache, and if the APC is running off of it's battery and the other powersupply (for storage processor B) is not receiving power either, the unit starts a shutdown. This means it takes the write cache, commits it to the cache vault (part of the reserved disk space on the first 4 drives on the array), and once it's committed there the unit shuts down. When the power is restored, the cache vault is read back and this data is committed to it's intended disks.
If the UPS isn't connected, the array cannot confirm if there's a battery to back up it's powersource (long enough to commit data from write cache to disk), so for (data) safety reasons, the array disables write cache.
