RM and OME integration?
Hello
I have just sucessfully installed OME, pushed out OMSA, and am now ready for the next step DRM.
Questions:
How do these tools(OME and DRM) work together? Is it to the extent of me just using the OME system inventory to be compared to ftp site, to see what gets downloaded?
How do we apply the updates? Back using OME?
Thanks, now back to attempting to find this info on my own :)

Giermo,
DRM connects with OME to get all the software inventory of the servers managed. DRM uses this inventory to pick all relevant updates from a source repository. This can either be the Dell ftp repository or any other repository inside DRM.
After you create the repository, you can save the repository to any local disk or network share. Just click Save from the Repository drop down menu in DRM.
DRM stores the repository information in its local database. When you export or save the repository to local disk or network share, all the files in the repository are downloaded and saved. DRM will submit a background job to save the repository.
After the save job is complete, you can use OME to point to the new repository to apply the updates.
Here is a whitepaper that provides more information on using DRM with OME:

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the Response Kumaran
When you say "DRM stores the repository information in its local database" Is this the Full repo and Update packages(just like if i saved it to external location)? This is very important as the server running this does not have much extra file space at all.
This line was exactly what i needed. "After the save job is complete, you can use OME to point to the new repository to apply the updates." Now just to find the specifics lol
thanks again

Giermo,
After you create the repository in DRM it just stores the meta data for the repository in its local database. Update packages are not yet downloaded.
Download starts only when the save or export operation is started.
From OME you can go to Manage -> System Update -> Select a catalog source -> Use Repository Manager file and point to the catalog.xml file generated by DRM.
