Repository Manager Linux Boot ISO.

Hello,

As a DataCentre Tech Support Technician we are working on a long term fix to update the firmware before it gets racked i.e the linux boot mode.

So far this has been a great way of updating with a few issues at hand if anyone could help this would be great.

1. Dell PowerEdge R210II if these have to old of bios they will not boot the ISO image i.e 1 blinking box in the top corner of the screen will not boot.

2. Upload firmware image failed once this gets to updating the DRAC, if this does not fail the DRAC still does not seem to update (any fix?) this is also for any PowerEdge Server.

If anyone has any suggestions why this is happening? or any suggestions on how to fix this.

Kind Regards David.

Hi,

Is this issue seen with DTK 7.3 plugin coming from Repository Manager 1.7 version?

If so, please try using DTK 7.2 which is available at ftp://ftp.dell.com/FOLDER01233274M/1/DTK_720.cab

It can done as follows:

1) Remove the file DTK_730.cab from plugin folder, which is
C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\RepositoryManager\Payloads
.

2) Replace this old plugin file manually and run the export wizard again to generate a new iso.

Thanks,

Shashi.

Thank you for the reply,

I have now tested this as I was using the latest of 7.3 now 7.2 has seemed to fix the problem of not updating the DRAC correctly.

Unfortunately this has not fixed the non boot issue with and older bios we still just get a blinking in the top left hand corner.

Thanks,

David.

Hi,

Did you mean that bootable iso version 7.2 is also not booting on R210II, instead a cursor blinks on the top left hand corner?

If so, can you please provide your configuration details including BIOS version? That would help us know how to root cause the issue.

Thanks,

Shashi.

Thank you for the reply.

I can confirm that it is not bootable for 7.2 and there is only a cursor that blinks.

My findings were that if its any chassis that's 2.4.3 and below this will not boot I have no idea why this is and the configurations are Default on the server.

Thanks,

David
