How often is the catalog updated?
Hi,
I am testing the Repository Manager for the first time for our new server environment. We have several PE R720 which I want to update with the newest Drivers and firmware
So I updated the catalog and searched for the Poweredge R720 in the source repository. The newest available Bundle is "System Bundle (Windows) PER720 v464" dated 6th June 2013. this bündle includes the iDRAC 7 Firmware 1.37.35 for example.
What really confuses me is that there are newer updates when I look at the Dell FTP site directly. For example there is the iDRAC 7 Firmware 1.40.40 and others.
So when and how often does the catalog get updated? The Dell Repository Manager can be a useful tool but only if it gets me the newest available updates.

Hi Stephan,
As on today, the catalog gets refreshed every month. The catalog is generated from the lateset updates at the time of posting. There are possibilities of updates being posted after the catalogs are posted. To get the latest available updates using Dell Repository Manager, you can use the Search Dell Support Site feature. This will fetch the latest updates from the support site. These updates may then be downloded as updates or exported to repository for further deployment. Will this be changed to a more rapid refresh in the future such as every week or every day?

Hi Cameron,
Dell is working on reducing the update cycle for the catalog. You should be able to see changes in the future.
Dell Repository Manager's "Search Dell Support Site" feature should help you get all the latest updates. This feature does not rely on the catalog and pulls the latest updates as and when they are released.
