DRM SUU repository failure with SBUU

Hi,

I am trying to update the firmware on a server. I am using v 2.4.866 of the SBUU boot media, and I am using v 1.9 and now 1.8 of DRM. I am trying to create a DVD or USB flash that I can use with the SBUU to update the firmware. I created a my repos for the R510 bundles, and exported them to SUU directory, and also iso. and everytime that i do this, the SBUU fails when i try to get it to read the media. there is something wrong with the /repository/catalog.xml file. I have an older v474 R510 DVD and that repos works fine. the creation of the SBUU folder is correct....i have traced the issue down to the catalog.xml file that is created during the export.

Am I doing something wrong? Any help appreciated, this is driving me crazy.

Thank you for looking into this. Also, please note that the DRM export to SUU dir or iso IS completing without failure. I may not have been very clear on that point. It is when the SUU exported directory is burned to DVD, or the SUU export .ISO is burned to DVD, and then used with the SBUU's CD/DVD option that the failure happens. The same is true if the files are copied onto a USB jump drive as well. The SBUU's application for looking at the repos media is not happy with what it finds in the catalog.xml.

Thank you. J Mattos

Hi,

Can you please update the SUU plugin of DRM and try this again?

We have updated the SUU and DTK plugin yesterday.

Thanks

Shabu

Shabu-

Thanks for working on this. I updated the plugins as you directed and same result....the SUU 32 and 64 repos directories and also the iso was created successfully, but none of them will work with my SBUU disk in the R510. So, i updated the DRM from 1.8 to 1.9 and updated the catalog, and then re-updated the plug-ins, and now, the 32 bit linux SUU export creates fine but the 64 bit failed. to be honest, I am not sure which bit-version i should be trying to use with the SBUU.....I was assuming the 32 bit files/iso. I just now tried the 64 bit SUU export again, this time out to an .iso and tried that and the .iso created correctly, but it does not work with the SBUU, same result.

Every one of these repository folders/iso's I am creating are creating the correct folder structure, and in the /repository/ folder the catalog.xml and the r510...xml and all the bins and signs are create correctly.....it is SOMETHING about the catalog.xml that the SBUU cannot read.

Could there be something in my installation of DRM that is causing this? If you think so, can you give me directions on how to totally uninstall and remove all DRM data, so I can start fresh?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for trying out what Shabu suggested. As SBUU is a 32-bit application, as far as I remember it would be able to execute only 32-bit DUPs.

The concerned team is looking in to this and we would be getting back to you at the earliest.

Regards,

Shashi.

Shasi-

Thank you very much. I have also, just now, gone to a new system that has never had DRM installed on it. I installed dotnet 4.5.1 as required, rebooted, installed v 1.9,  rebooted, updated the online catalog, imported the 3 plug-ins, and then made a new repository with the R510 as the criteria, then performed the SUU export to directory. it created the same exact folder structure successfully, and i copied the files to a usbflash, then tried it....no good. I will try the .iso and see if i get the same thing.

I appreciate y'all helping out with this. its driving me crazy. The SBUU is exactly what i need to maintain our servers.

Hi,

While we are working on this, as an alternative, can you please use DTK Bootable iso method for updating your server(s)? Please go through the whitepaper for steps: http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/extras/m/white_papers/20438117.aspx

Thanks,

Shashi

Shashi,

I have not heard anything on this. Have you been able to correct the problem with the SBUU not able to read the catalog.xml file yet?

We will work on this at the earliest and let you know when we have a resolution.

Thanks,
