Cannot Compare

Hi,

i am not able to copare my OME repository with the source (DELL online) anymore.

I tried to uninstall the DRM but after reinstalling it I got the same fatal error:

Dell Repository Manager has encountered an error and cannot recover. Please restart Dell repository Manager.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for posting the issue on TechCenter.

Issue is due to the device name missing for the component "Video_Driver_FRYX9_WN32_4.0.1.4_A00.EXE" in the latest dell online catalog which is causing the comparison to fail.

Workaround would be to delete the component from repository and compare it.
However, you cannot remove the component directly from dell online as it is read-only, so you may want to create a copy of the dell online catalog and then remove the component. Then use this newly created repository for all the comparisons.

Thanks,

Shashi

Hi Shsashi,

thanks a lot. That worked.

Any idea when this will be fixed.

I don't understand how to "create a copy of the dell online catalog and then remove the component. Then use this newly created repository for all the comparisons."

Where is the "dell online catalog" where I can remove the component?  I searched for "Video_Driver_FRYX9_WN32_4.0.1.4_A00.EXE" locally and deleted it but still get that error message.

This issue fixed with the latest catalog file.

Steps to update the latest catalog :

1. Open the Dell Repository Manager

2. Click on the "My Repository" Tab

3. On the right hand side of the tab, you will find the "New Dell Online" and click the link to update the latest catalog.  This will start the updating the catalog.

Incase if you are not find the "Dell Online" link, the alternative procedure is go to the ftp://ftp.dell.com/catalog/

1. Download the "Catalog.cab" into your local machine.

2. On the Dell Repository Manager, Click on the Application -> Settings -> Source Repository

3. Browse the Catalog.cab file into the Local Repository

4. You will find the "New Source" on the My Repository Tab, Click the link and update your database.

This might solve your problem.

There was a new Dell online repo available this AM. Imported it into DRM and did a compare, it finished without error.
