Pro Max 16, USB-C port placement issue, left-handed usability concern

Hi everyone,

I’d like to report a usability issue with the Dell Pro Max 16 laptop. The USB-C power port is located in the middle of the left side of the device.

This creates a problem for left-handed users like myself. When the laptop is plugged in, the charging cable interferes with mouse movement on the left side, making it uncomfortable and impractical to use a mouse in a natural position.

It feels like this design may not have fully considered left-handed users. Even for right-handed users, depending on desk setup, this placement could be inconvenient.

I’d really appreciate it if this feedback could be considered in future designs, or if there’s any recommended workaround from the community.

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you can plug power into any of the USB C ports.  I am left handed too, but in the minority.... soooo, it has to plug in somewhere, right?

Personally, my mouse is more in line with the track pad or lower, not on the side of the laptop.

The only other approach is ports on the back, which Dell does not use.

Moved this thread to the Dell Pro Max Laptops board.

We have two Pro Max 16 laptops, Pro Max 16 MC16250, Pro Max 16 MC16255.

In both cases the Thunderbolt ports are on the left side. Rhyalus_RSA is correct. Both can be used for the power adapter.

@DELL-ChrisM2

Hi Chris, that’s correct; there are two USB-C ports on the left side, and I’m currently using the one closer to the screen to save a couple of extra millimeters for mouse movement.

One thing to note is that if I were using an external keyboard and placing the laptop farther away, the issue would likely be reduced since the mouse would no longer be so close to the laptop itself.

Still, I think it’s worth passing this feedback to the design team for future models. Having charging-capable ports on both sides, for example, could make the design more flexible and comfortable for different setups and for left-handed users as well.

Thanks.
