Pro Max 16 MC16250, SD25TB4 Docking station monitor display blank

I have a Dell Pro Max 16. Running the latest Windows 11 update. I connect to it a SD25TB4 docking station. When I restart my computer 1 of the monitors connected through the docking station does not work. Windows display settings detects the monitor and I can move my mouse into that screen, however the display itself is blank. It shows nothing. I can fix this every time by following these steps:

  1. Disconnect everything from the dock
  2. Disconnect the dock from the laptop
  3. Hold the power button in for 30 seconds on the docking station
  4. Let the docking station sit for 2 minutes
  5. Restart the laptop
  6. Plug everything back into the dock
  7. Connect the dock to the laptop.

Then everything works as expected. I'm not sure what to do to fix this problem. I have the same issue with the same exact setup at work. So, I get the joy of doing this quite often. The docking station and my laptop both are running the latest firmware and or bios update available through Dell's website and Dell Command update.

Not sure what else I can do to stop this from happening.

@suprkain

I have been following a separate thread after chasing some issues with the PCIe bus that was triggering WHEA 17 events and BSOD. I began checking and updating BIOS, drivers, and firmware to address the issue. As soon as I installed the Thunderbolt update I experience exactly what you are experiencing. Going to see about downgrading that update to see if that fixes it. You might check out that other thread and see if you are seeing some similarities in your system. Here is the link:

@lxlmongooselxl

Thank you for this. My issue seems to be more with the dock than the laptop itself. However, after reading that thread maybe, it is a combination of both.

@DELL-Jesse L

I ended up getting a replacement dock which after making sure I updated the dock before using it fully I am still having the same issue. And to make it worse the ethernet port for the dock seems to be having issues as well. It keeps disconnecting so I have to use the ethernet port of my laptop if I don't want to get disconnected.

To make dealing with the display issue I mentioned above a bit eaiser I have a script that runs about 20 seconds after starting up my machine that resets the graphics card driver. Which seems to work every time.
