Pro Max 16, defective Touchpad

Out of the box (box in pristine condition) touchpad sticks on front frame and does not release- unusable. I say “defective” - not damaged. Anyone else have similar problem? I’ve been buying Dells exclusively for 25 years for personal and for corporate usage and not had a problem till now. And a bit dismayed at support. I would think that QA would not have accepted this.
