Precision Mobile Workstation Fans: How are you liking the new Dell Pro Max laptops?
For those who have used Dell Precision Mobile workstations over the years: how are you liking Dell Pro Max so far? Is it worthy of the Precision name? Are you finding it better or worse?
I have not had the best of experiences with Precision 7000 series laptops. They've always seemed more failure-prone than any other professional Dell laptop series. I feel like the Dell Pro 16/18 Plus is a great opportunity for Dell to hit the reset button on these.
Similarly, I've also never been super impressed with the Precision 3000 series; they've always seemed like Latitude 5000 PCs with H-series processors and low-mid range NVIDIA (Quadro) RTX GPUs. The Latitude 5000 chassis has also always felt...cheap? Hearing that they gave the (non-Plus/non-Premium) Dell Pro Max its own chassis type has me somewhat optimistic!
Though, I absolutely love the Precision 5000 series (having owned a 5540, a 5480, and 5490). Easily my favorite Dell PCs ever. I'm apprehensive about them, but I'm still hoping that the Dell Pro Max 14/16 Premium live up to the Precision 5000 series.
For those that have pulled the trigger, what are your thoughts?

I’ve been curious about the Pro Max lineup too. From what I’ve seen so far, it does feel like Dell is trying to clean up the Precision reputation with a sturdier chassis and better thermals. Still early days, but a lot will depend on long-term reliability something Precisions have struggled with in the past.
