BIOS password
Hi,
Is there BIOS password limit for Dell Precision and Pro Max laptops?
Can they be reset by a Dell service center if necessary (providing the laptop is genuinely acquired, of course)?
I am asking because Lenovo P1 laptops have such a limit and one has to be careful when buying a used one or even a new but old stock, if you enter a wrong password three times you brick the laptop and there is NO WAY to get it back even by a Lenovo service center.
Thank you

Well hi there,
Dell systems do not have the same “hard brick after 3 tries” policy as Lenovo ThinkPad P1 (and a few other Lenovo models).
On Dell laptops, if you enter the wrong BIOS/UEFI admin password or system password multiple times, the system will not brick — it just denies access until reboot.
After too many failed attempts, you might see a lockout message with a System Disable/Service Tag code. This code is what Dell support can use to generate a master password or to reset via service.
