Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13255 AUX microphone problem
Hello,
We have received these computers, but encountered an issue: when employees connect AUX headphones with a microphone, the microphone does not work and only produces a humming noise during testing or recording.
We tried installing (reinstalling) drivers from here: https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/dell-pro-pb13255-2-in-1-laptop/drivers (Realtek Audio Driver, Version 10.0.177.1, A01), but it did not help—the situation remains the same.
We also reinstalled Windows 11, but the issue persists: the microphone does not work when AUX headphones are connected.
We tested the headphones on other computers and they work perfectly. We also tried multiple headsets—the microphone does not work on these computers, but works fine on others.
What the sound is like during recording: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12YSMBtktbl7YuaLLbnM6m6PTPI5vuKpl/view?usp=sharing
What other possible solutions could be? We are waiting for your assistance.

Contact Dell GHN (Get Help Now) chat technical support Monday through Friday. Click the blue "Get Help Now" on the right to start a private live chat session. Share the private Service Tag with them so that they can verify the ownership and warranty status. This will also generate a unique Technical Support case for your unique Service Tag. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offerings.
I'd recommend taking a look at the following article.
Waves Maxxaudio Driver and Waves Maxxaudio Uwp Are Needed to Enable the Microphone of an Analog Headset
What model of headset are you using? Systems released prior to 2025 with Dell Optimizer 4.2.x could select the audio device type when plugging a device into the 3.5 mm jack. This also included the ability to select and use mic-in and line-in device types. Computers released in 2025 or later support auto-detection of headsets, headphones, and speakers with the 3.5 mm jack. They do not support devices that require a mic-in or line-in port. This would be a limitation of the port should you need a mic-in or line-in capabality for your headset.
There are a few possible workarounds. Depending on the headset, a separate USB or 3.5mm adapter to connect analog microphone (mic-in) or line inputs (line-in) to the computer will be needed. Alternatively, you may need to have Dell Optimizer 4.2 or Waves Maxxaudio installed. Though, I would stick with Optimizer for the PB13255 as Waves isn't listed in the driver list for that model. If needed, Waves can be installed via a direct link here. However, you do not want to have both applications installed at the same time as there would be conflicts with the two softwares. Please note that Dell will also no longer support Optimizer 4.2.x as we have moved on to 6.0. Each option should be tested independently. I'd also try a different model of headset/headphones with a mic to further test a compatibility issue.
