Tower Plus EBT2260, second monitor USB-C to HDMI adapter connection issues
Upon arrival I connected my computer to my old 27" Dell monitor via the HDMI port and connected a new 27" monitor via the USB-C port. I used a USB-C to HDMI adapter. Everything worked fine the first nine days. On day ten the monitor connected to the USB-C port did not work. I have purchased new cables switched the monitors around and reached out to Dell, who sent me a replacement monitor. Whichever monitor is connected to the USB-C port it does not work. However, pulling the cable out of the USB-C port or placing it back in causes a ring noise in my speakers. Any suggestions on how to get my second monitor working again from the USB-C port?

This usually happens due to input detection, cable type, or GPU output limitations rather than a faulty monitor.
Please try the following checks:
1. Use a different cable type if possible (DisplayPort is preferred over HDMI). Some systems do not support dual monitors reliably over mixed or older HDMI ports.
2. Make sure the second monitor input source is set manually (DP or HDMI) instead of Auto.
3. Power cycle the monitor: unplug it from power for 2–3 minutes, then reconnect.
4. Update the graphics driver directly from Dell Support for your specific Tower Plus EBT2260 model (not from Windows Update).
5. Check BIOS version and update it if an update is available on Dell’s website.
6. If you are using a dock, splitter, or adapter, remove it and connect the monitor directly to the PC.
7. Verify GPU limits: Some integrated GPUs only support one external display unless DisplayPort MST is used.
If the monitor works on another PC and the cable also works fine, then the issue is most likely GPU output configuration or driver-related on this system.
If none of the above helps, please share:
- Exact GPU model
- Cable type used (HDMI/DP)
- Windows version
- BIOS version
That will help narrow it down further.

Manual says:
Thunderbolt 4.0 (40 Gbps) port with Power Delivery and DisplayPort
Supports USB4, DisplayPort 1.4, Thunderbolt 4 and also enables you to connect to an external display using a display adapter. Supports data transfer rates of up to 40 Gbps for USB4 and Thunderbolt 4.
NOTE: A USB Type-C to DisplayPort adapter (sold separately) is required to connect a DisplayPort device
There's no mention of being able to use Type-C to HDMI...
