Tower Plus EBT2250, old HDD?

My old XPS8700 has a Seagate Barracuda ST 1000 DM 003 one terabyte SATA 3 1/2 inch HDD. It is the C drive.

Can I put it into my new EBT 2250? Will I need to buy a carrier for it and cable? Does it need to be reconfigured in any way, since it is currently used as the C drive?

Well, I know the cable is there in the EBT2250.

I did buy another drive, a Western Digital 2TB WD Blue PC Internal Hard Drive - 7200 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD20EZBX and I installed it. It (not sure) either fit into the cage or the blue adapter, see this page, https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/dell-pro-desktops/faq-tower-plus-ebt2250/67f17ac76ecd9115e0083097 and at the top the 2 'blue' adapters (I think it is for 2.5 inch drives, but if it is, I don't have one sitting around and probably used that) and the power and data cable connections are in the cable bundles beneath it.

The drive when added would become the next drive letter probably. You can use DiskMgmt.MSC to change it though.

Thanks for the information on the cables.  If I understood you correctly, you installed the new HDD either directly into the cage or using the blue carrier that was in the cage already?  And you didn’t have to use a carrier that you had on hand or bought, correct?

Yes, you are correct.

Found this Dell Video too, https://www.dell.com/support/contents/en-us/videos/videoplayer/how-to-replace-the-35-inch-hard-drive-on-dell-tower-plus-ebt2250/6375236241112 and it is all you need to know.

Looks like I used the BLUE CADDY based on the above link. It is about replacing an existing 3.5 inch drive, but that was in on cage/caddy, there is another one to the left in the video that is the same with a caddy. You'll need to locate the power and  data connectors and cable in the bundled cables on the motherboard.

@ispalten Thanks, I'll check it out when I receive my 2250.
