Pro Tower Plus QBT1250, peeling coating on corner, need warranty review after multiple denials
Hi, I’m requesting assistance with a cosmetic issue that appears to be a premature material defect. One corner of my system has a white spot where the black coating is peeling away, exposing the bare metal underneath. The system is stationary and has not been subjected to abrasion, movement, or handling that would cause wear. The finish looks like it is peeling rather than being worn down from use. I’ve contacted Dell Support twice through chat, but both times the issue was classified as “wear and tear,” even though the coating is failing and the system has not been moved or handled in a way that would cause this. I’m only requesting a replacement panel, not a full repair. Could someone from Dell Cares or a higher‑tier support team review this case? I can provide photos and the service tag privately.
Thank you.

Quick update on my case:
I reached out to ProSupport, but they were unable to resolve the issue. I then contacted Dell Parts & Out‑of‑Warranty Repairs to purchase the left side panel, but they informed me the part is not available and took my email to notify me if it becomes available in the future.
Since the coating failure is exposing bare metal and the replacement panel cannot be purchased, I’m requesting a warranty review or alternative resolution. Thank you for your help.

QBT1250 is “Optiplex 7030” tower which uses same case as tower 7020/7010, but not tower plus.
try 7010/7020 tower (not tower plus) side panel if you can not wait to buy a genuine 7030 side panel, or live w the small paint chip for now and keep asking Dell to replace the panel if you can convince them it is a warranty replacement part and not wear/tear.

Thank you for the clarification on the chassis compatibility.
As an update, I already contacted ProSupport and they were unable to resolve the issue. I also reached out to Dell Parts & Out‑of‑Warranty Repairs to purchase the left side panel, but they informed me the part is not available and took my email to notify me if it becomes available in the future.
Since the coating failure is exposing bare metal and the replacement panel cannot currently be purchased, I’m requesting a warranty review or alternative resolution. I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Hi — I noticed there was an internal update to this thread late last week, but I haven’t seen a visible response yet.
I just wanted to follow up to see if this case is still under review. As mentioned, the system is only a few months old, the unit is stationary, and the coating failure is exposing bare metal. Since the replacement panel is not currently available for purchase, I’m hoping this can be reviewed for an exception or alternative resolution.
Thank you for your time — I appreciate any update when available.

I don't work for Dell, but very much sounds as you're nit-picking and stressing over nothing.
Your entire case is metal, and is exposed throughout. Little ding on the back has zero affect on functionality. If I would be Dell support, I would also say it's not a problem.
Get yourself a black marker, cover the spot, problem solved.

I understand your perspective, but this isn’t a scratch or ding — the coating has peeled off and exposed bare metal. I also attempted to purchase a replacement panel, but Dell Parts confirmed the part is not available and took my email for future stock. Since I cannot buy the part and the coating failure appears to be a material defect, I’m requesting a warranty review from Dell.

You do understand that entire case is "base material", right?
As I said, use black marker to get it covered up and move on. Your computer will work just fine.

The issue isn’t a scratch or cosmetic wear — the coating has peeled off and exposed bare metal. I also attempted to purchase a replacement panel, but Dell Parts confirmed the part is not available. Since the finish failure appears to be a material defect and the part cannot be purchased, I’m requesting a warranty review from Dell. I appreciate your input.

Just checking in to see if there are any updates. I received a notification that the post was updated, but I haven’t seen a new reply yet. I’m still hoping for a warranty review or alternative resolution since the coating failure is exposing bare metal and the replacement panel is not available for purchase. Thank you again for your time.

There appears to be confusion here. None of us Dell Forum Liaisons have the ability to supersede the stance of Dell ProSupport team. We cannot modify a warranty. All we can do is see the current purchased warranty via the private Service Tag number. The Dell ProSupport team must escalate to their management team for "warranty review or alternative resolution" disposition.

Thank you for the clarification. ProSupport advised me that they were unable to resolve the issue and that the part is not available for purchase. Since the coating failure is exposing bare metal and I cannot buy the replacement panel, I’m simply trying to understand the correct path for a warranty review or alternative resolution. If ProSupport management is the team that handles this, I’m happy to follow whatever process is required.
