Pro Tower EBT2250, does it really need an Nvidia Update?
Got notification of an update, and when I went to the Support page and had it checked, it came up with this one:
==============
==============
All well and good, but that h/w is not what is in the EBT2250?
Name NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2882&SUBSYS_51621028&REV_A1\4&98469B2&0&0030
Adapter Type NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, NVIDIA compatible
Adapter Description NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
Now I know that:
- Nvidia drivers can be used on a range of card models with a single driver for all.
- Nvidia Drivers, especially the V572 series and later (the above is V572.84) have had serious problems with the 40 and 50 Series Nvidia cards (Stuff like this if you Google the driver ==> https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/warning-about-nvidia-driver-version-572-83-and-4000-5000-series-cards/).
- Nvidia actually released a slightly newer version as well, V572.83 (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/242277/).
- The Nvidia site calls out V577.00 for the card? See https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/ for details.
With all the grief I've had with Nvidia drivers on my XPS8940 and Lock-ups with Nvidia drivers, I am reluctant to put the 'proposed Dell' driver down on this PC as it is my wife's. So far, it has basically be problem free. Working well.
I am curious why the Dell file is NOT one Nvidia released?
Is this file fully supported? What happens if it causes BSOD's and other problem? PC still in Support, but I wonder if ANYONE has installed this driver?
If anything, I'd be putting the last Nvidia released driver down (Dell does always list if the file is Game Ready or Studio?)?
