Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250, part request proprietary 12-pin to Dual 8-pin GPU cable for ASUS TUF RTX 24GB 3090
Hello,
I am seeking technical validation and a purchase path for a proprietary GPU power cable for a Dell Pro Max Tower T2 (Model FCT2250), with Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 285K (24 cores, up to 5.7 GHz, 125 W) .
I am installing an ASUS TUF RTX 3090 (350W TDP). My system is configured with the 1500W (80 Plus Platinum) PSU, so ample power is available on the rails.
Currently, the Power Distribution Board has a 12-pin proprietary header occupied by cable DP/N 0J5KGM (which only provides dual 6-pin). I need a cable that provides Dual 8-pin (6+2) from that 12-pin header to safely handle the 350W draw of the 3090.
Historically, on the older Precision 7920 towers, this was part 8MC3R or D92C9 or M3MNT. Can a Dell representative please verify:
Are the legacy 8MC3R/D92C9 cables pin-compatible with the new Pro Max Tower T2 power distribution board?
If not, what is the exact DP/N for the 12-pin to Dual 8-pin PCIe cable for the FCT2250?
Is there a 'Customer Kit' available for out-of-band purchase?
My system is under active warranty. My Service Tag is available via Direct Message upon request.
Thank you,
Ash

@anne_droid my system is Dell Pro Max Tower T2 (Model FCT2250), slightly different and I have a 1500W PSU. There is no talk in that thread about a 12pin female end of this required cable...to connect to the 12pin male x2 cables that are in my system. Dell sales are suggesting I get 1 or 2x
The part# in the email is:
Part No # 17RCK ( Cable, PSU Power to GFX,(8+6)PIN to (12+4)PIN )
...but I'm trying to make sure this is the correct cable for my GPU ASUS RTX 3090 TUF..does it fit into the 12pin male cablkes already in my system, or do I plug them to the PSU directly. My GPU requires 2x 8pin male on preferably 2 cables.
The 2x 12pin cables are not listed in my order parts list, and neither are the specs of the PSU listed.
Any pointers will be appreciated.
thanks,
Ash

new Dell Pro Max Plus powersupply didn't have any normal (like A) PCIE 8 pin power connectors. instead the mini 6 and mini 8 pin connectors (B and C) were connected to the powersupply, and 12VHPWR was available.
The cable (BC-D) shows D/PN 0J5KGM

User report which may answer OP question
Sharing my solution here. I have found a 12 VHPWR female adapter to dual 8-pin male adapter that works for my Pro Max T2 and my older RTX card.
Found it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0CNRQQK3F
COMeap 12VHPWR Cable Extension, 16 Pin Female to Dual 8 Pin(6+2) Male PCIe Conversion GPU Power Cable for Power Supply with 12+4pin 12VHPWR Port 7.67 in
It took me awhile to find this adapter among a tsunami of 8-pin to 12-pin adapters (opposite adapting direction) where the GPU was ahead of time of the PSU while this issue is the other way around. New computer with an old but still good graphic card.

Another user report
Hello, my Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250 with 1500W psu came with two 12pin gpu power cables (each 12 pin cable splits to 8pin and 6pin at PSU side)
this may be the new Dell 1500w V2 psu?
We ordered a Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250 without a discrete GPU and it came with two 12VHPWR (16-pin) GPU power cables.
We want to install an older GPU that has two 8-pin power sockets.
GPU cards Dell offered as options for the Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250 have a 12VHPWR socket or didn't need a socket at all for older 6/8 pin socket GPU cards

When using the Dell website custom configurator and selecting the new 1500W V2 PSU with an older GPU card, it comes up with following error:
