Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250, graphics card power cable

Hi all!

Seems to be a common theme, but we purchased 10+ Dell Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250 recently with the 500W PSU, and we can’t find how to connect a standard 6 pin PCIe power cable to our graphics cards.

We need to install Barco MXRT-7500/7600 graphics cards for full compatibility with our Barco monitors, so none of Dell’s cards would work. These require a STANDARD 6 pin PCIe power cable.

This was never an issue with Dell workstations in the past, they came with 6+2 pin PCIe power cables. However, now Dell seems to have made everything proprietary.

Does anyone have any experience with what adapter is needed to get a 6 pin PCIe power cable out of the 500W PSU?

We are seriously reconsidering making any more purchases from Dell due to this level of incompatibility with standard PC equipment.

I see from other posts that some have had luck with the TK46M adapter cable. Would love some official feedback from Dell here.

Thank you!

One question to clarify. Is the larger end of that M3MNT cable intended to accept the 12 pin cable that normally comes from the PSU?

The Dell internal SPMD (Spare Parts Master Database) tool it shows as "For Sale = No". This means that Dell Spare Parts team cannot sell it.

You would have to click on Get Help Now on the right to start a "case" with Dell Technical Support.

The Dell Technical Support agent would then have to get approval from management to setup a "parts only service" ticket to send the M3MNT cable out.

I found another picture showing 12 pin holes.

Hi Chris,

Are these cables available on your side? I’m getting constant pushback regarding the M3MNT PSU GFX Power Dongle Cable (dual 6+2 pin), and so far nobody seems able to supply it.

Can you confirm if you have any way of sourcing this, or if there’s an alternative route we should take?

Thanks,
Cas

Dell part TK46M (cannot find a picture) shows these systems as validated for use =

Tower ECT1250
Pro Tower QCT1250
Pro Tower Plus QBT1250
Pro Tower Plus XE QBT1250
Pro Tower Essential QVT1260

I am not sure if this is what you need? But I found =

M3MNT PSU GFX Power Dongle Cable dual 6+2pin

for the =
Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250
Pro Max Tower T2 XE FCT2250

@DELL-ChrisM2 thank you for the fast reply! That’s great. I really appreciate your help with this. Would probably never have gotten there.

I vaguely remember a Chris who i was chatting with on these forums in 2015 in regards to my Dell 2715K 5K monitor at the time. Wondering if you’re the same person :)

That’s amazing. Thanks for helping me out 10 years ago and again today!!

One question to clarify. Is the larger end of that M3MNT cable intended to accept the 12 pin cable that normally comes from the PSU? I cannot see the holes/pinout of that cable so difficult to be sure.

I assume it’s Dell 500W PSU -> 8pin -12 pin GFX Dell cable -> 12 pin M3MNT to 2 x 6+2pin cables?

We are having a lot of difficulty trying to find someone at Dell Technical Support who can help us. We’ve been going round and round with Dell all day. Any tips on navigating this maze?

Thanks again Chris!!

I just purchased the same system and i'm having the same trouble. Did you find any solution. I need to power my RTX A5000 which has an 8 pin connector.

Please reply if you have a solution for this.
