Pro Max Tower T2 FCT2250, anyone tried installing Intel Arc B-series (Battlemage) GPU?

Hello everyone,

I’m considering upgrading my Dell Pro Max Tower T2 (model FCT2250) with an Intel Arc B-series graphics card (Battlemage architecture, such as the Arc B580 or the Pro B series). Before I make a purchase, I’d like to ask:

Has anyone successfully installed an Intel Arc B-series card in this machine?
If so, how is the performance? Are there any driver or compatibility issues?
Does the Dell BIOS/board support non-Dell GPUs like Intel Arc without problems?
Any special power cable or physical fit concerns (e.g., GPU length, power connector requirements)?
I would greatly appreciate any experience or advice you can share. Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Hello, because computers are not built the same.  Something that works for someone may not get the same result with your system.  In my opinion, the Arc B580 is considered a downgrade for your T2 FCT2250 system.  For Intel upgrade choice, at least consider an Intel Arc Pro B70.

Dell did not offer Intel Arc for this system.  That meant Dell did not test it for compatibility and neither offering drivers nor support.  You will be on your own if you decide to using Intel Arc graphics.

Here are overview for the Intel Arc B500 series:

The Intel Arc B-Series (codenamed Battlemage) is Intel's second-generation discrete graphics architecture, built on the Xe2 platform. The lineup is engineered primarily for budget-conscious gamers and content creators, offering strong 1080p and 1440p gaming performance, modern ray tracing, and heavy AI acceleration.
  • Intel Arc B580: The flagship desktop card features 20 Xe2 cores and 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM, making it well-suited to handle higher texture settings and heavier workloads without bottlenecking. It targets a $249 MSRP, though third-party models typically range around $300.
  • Intel Arc B570: A slightly cut-down version designed for modern gaming, equipped with 10GB of GDDR6 memory.

On the other hand, The Intel Arc Pro B70 is a professional-grade workstation GPU based on the Battlemage (Xe2) microarchitecture. It is engineered primarily for AI inference, video editing, and complex creative workloads, featuring a massive 32 GB of ECC GDDR6 VRAM and certified ISV drivers.

If you review this benchmark site, you will find out that professional users are mostly favor NVIDIA RTX graphics cards, such as ADA and Blackwell.  Some are with GeForce RTX 5th generation.  Hopefully by reviewing the performances, you may get some idea of which graphics card you will upgrade your system with.
