Dell Tower Plus EBT2250 BIOS install.
I discovered I missed BIOS 12.1.0, so I d/l'ed it and install... WOW did it take a LONG time. Maybe 10 minutes.
By comparison, my XPS8940 does it around 1+ minutes.
XPS shows a single bar with details under it which component is installing.
EBT2250 uses individual bars to do the same.
Why so long compared to the 8940...
What made matters worse, ran Support Assist to look for updates... found 4, but NOT the BIOS?
It also could not in 15 minutes even the first one?
So I gave up on Support Assist and installed the BIOS manually.
Well, the system DID NOT reboot!!!
All I saw was a slow on and off of the power button, 10 minutes worth....
Though maybe if I held in the Power button for a few minutes it might reset something. Sure enough, after doing this, it booted?
However, it wanted to reconfigure the system? Also set up Outlook which we do not use... cancelled that out and I got to Windows? Checked MS Update, none done today and last was done on 1/14???
Anyone else see this, and Support Assist finding needed updates but can't complete them?
So I go to the Dell Support Drivers and Downloads page, and use CHECK FOR UPDATES and I never see a change, nothing happens? It just 'grays out' that selection?
Sounds like I have a bad Support Assist install maybe, but that doesn't explain the reboot problem installing the BIOS?
All H/W tests pass?
Confused? Anyone else see this?
Have a solution?
Still under warranty, may need to contact Support...

OK, found the reason for Check for Updates did nothing... I use FireFox as my browser, and it seems Dell Support page doesn't work with it, and I sort of remembered that and use Edge.
Poof, it worked and told me Chipset | Intel PPM Provisioning Package was the ONLY one needed, and indicated I didn't have a prior version installed?
It did install OK though.
Ran Support Assist again, and it did install 2 Updates? List one prior that failed, but did install it?

EBT2250 is basically new Optiplex tower plus 7030 that should not need update. If the new pc works fine, no need to update it.

I don't quite remember which PC, but I remember having to do the same thing - hold in the power button for a while and then start it. My PC's are from before April 2020 with the 30 sec. power button BIOS reset.
