Servers added using WMI protocol are in unclassified devices - OME

Hi,

Recently our servers are configured with Drac domain authorization. We are able to login using our domain credentials on Drac console. We added the servers (with Linux OS) into OME and on device discovery and inventory used WMI protocol for domain authentication but in OME console the servers are listed under unclassified devices. Please guide to make the servers available for managing through OME.

Hi, thanks for the query.

While discovering the server iDRAC, please use WSMAN protocol. WMI protocol is only meant for Windows servers being discovered using in-band IP address or client devices.

Hi Shivendra,

I tried to use my user-id credentials (both userid & domain\userid) on WSMAN configuration for device discovery. But the status is unclassified and the server is listed under unknown devices. So we can't use our domain credentials for discovering the server in OME using any protocol? even we enabled Drac domain authorization on the server.
Please suggest any possibilities to authorize the server using domain credentials in OME.

Hi,

Can you try running WSMAN protocol test using Dell Troubleshooting tool (installed along with OME) with same parameters used in OME? This will provide exact problem that is occurring and a hint to resolve.

Hi Shivendra,

WSMAN protocol test results "connected. Could not collect WSMAN profile data". The OME installed on windows server 2012 r2 OS, I tried installing the windows update kb3140245 on server but the update says " it is not applicable to the computer". I think it is not an issue with TLS because it says connected. Also unchecked the Discover the selected device types option, but no luck.

Next step would be to check WinRM client authentication on the OME system. This test is also available in Troubleshooting tool - Miscellaneous (Local Box) tab. Additionally, please check that the devices have valid certificates installed.

@DELL-Shivendra K

WinRM status is enabled and verified the ssl certificates are valid on the server.
