Server and DRAC in OME Device tree
Hello
We are running OpenManage Essentials (OME) v2.0.1.2222 in a Windows domain. I have a Windows Server 2008 PowerEdge R420 and have added the sever (SNMP only) and DRAC (SNMP and WS-MAN) to the Discovery and Inventory. After a short time they both appear in the Device tree. They both have the green tick. The DRAC is reporting correctly with the service tag and model number etc but the server does not (Model to Revision report as N/A, yet there is still a green tick). I have put the latest OMSA (7.4.0), removed/re-added the server and DRAC to OME. The Dell Troubleshooting Tool (v3.4.2) does not report any errors when querying the server using SNMP nor the DRAC with SNMP & WS-MAN. Am I missing something?

I would go ahead and delete the listing that is N/A. OME should remove old entries to avoid duplication, but it sounds like it didn't in this case. I would delete any erroneous entries and let it perform a discovery/inventory again. Anything that it fails to inventory try manually inventorying the item via right click.

It sounds like it is performing a discovery but not an inventory. I just tested this and it showed up exactly the same for me. After I right clicked on the server and chose the refresh inventory option it pulled in all of the data. Try refreshing the inventory and let me know if that fixes it for you.

Many thanks for your reply. I ran an inventory and now I have two servers in the Device tree - both with a green tick but only one with the server details (Model to Revision). This looks like the DRAC entry has been renamed to the server - which is a good thing. The original server entry still has N/A in the Model to Revision fields. If it is just the DRAC doing the reporting, can I just delete the server from the Discovery and Inventory (D&I) ? Or will the DRAC entry get renamed back to the DRAC DNS A name ? I am pretty sure I have other servers in OME that have both the server and the DRAC in D&I.

I deleted them (the server and the DRAC) from the device tree then waited for the nightly D&I cycle and this morning it appears just once - with a green tick and all the details. It appears OME was just being slow - if I may be so anthropomorphic.
