OpenMange Essentials Download

Hello,

I've seen this posted countless times and have tried to follow every link, but the links are either stale or redirect to OpenManage Enterprise.

I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 servers, not counting VMs and only 3 of them (PowerEdge R820) will work with Enterprise if I'm reading the compatibility matrix correctly.

My current OpenMange Essentials server is a PowerEdge 2950, 2008R2 server that I'm trying to decommission, unfortunately I just can't seem to find a link that will let me download Essentials 2.5 that I'm putting on my new 2016 Standard server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Eric

Hello Eric,

OpenManage Essentials version 2.5 was the final release. OpenManage Essentials will not support current or future PowerEdge servers and no further product enhancements will be added. It appears to have been pulled from download.  If you still have a copy in your Downloads folder you may try to use that.

There is a  QuickMigrate Tool is available to help migration from OpenManage Essentials to OpenManage Enterprise.

This is my problem, I have around 40 physical servers and only 3 of them are compatible with Enterprise. I am aware that Essentials 2.5 is the last version, but it's what I need for my environment. The only version I have is 1.3, which I cannot load on on any newer Operating Systems that aren't past end-of-life.

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised that essentials is no longer available for download. I know I'm running some older servers, but an R710 is not by any stretch of the imagination something to be considered obsolete and I'm sure there are still a ridiculous amount of them in service.

I get that I will have to migrate at some point, and I fully plan on standing up an OpenManage Enterprise server, but that doesn't help me at all with my present situation.

Unless I'm missing something...? Can I use the Enterprise Version to communicate through SNMP just like I do with Essentials? I would think there must be some overlap here between these two products. I feel I must be missing something because as I understand the compatibility right now it would be alienating a tremendous amount of customers.

Hello Eric,

You can create customized device discovery job protocol for SNMP devices

Page 50 - https://dell.to/3iDtEKS

You may only be able to monitor some older devices where you can administer newer systems. Reference Compatibility Guide from my previous post.  The QuickMigrate tool enables the migration of various settings configured in the OpenManage Essentials to the OpenManage Enterprise appliance.

Someone on the board may be able to help out if they have a copy of OM Essentials but unfortunately the Dell support page has removed it from download.
