Openmanage or something else?
I have the following setup at home and looking for monitoring advice:
- PowerWare 9125 battery backup
- PowerWare 9125 extra battery unit
- APC SURTA3000RMXL3U battery backup
- Dell PowerVault hard drive enclosure connected to Precision 1
- Dell PowerVault hard drive enclosure connected to Precision 2
- Dell Precision R5500 (1) - Windows 2012 R2
- Dell Precision R5500 (2) - Windows 7
- Tripplite KVM
- HP ProCurve 1810G 24-port switch
- 4 fan temp controlled enclosure
Above is in a rack. I also have a stand alone tower computer that runs Windows 7 and not dell. Plus a few laptops and such. I would like to monitor various aspects of my systems and my printers if that's possible. One printer is Dell one Canon. Both laser and networked. Want to be able to see at anytime any issues with my systems, or if one goes off-line for some reason if I can be alerted or maybe even why it goes off-line, temp readings, fan speed, fan failure, PSU voltage, network usage, etc. Like to see a lot of stats on my systems.
Would OpenManage be a good monitoring tool or are there better options. If OpenManage, what would the installation look like with the above setup?
Thanks.

Hi JR,
There are few dell devices in your environment like Dell Precision which can be monitored and inventoried using OpenManage Essentials. Refer http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/extras/m/white_papers/20218168 for more details on monitoring client devices using OME.
For non-dell devices, OME allows to import the MIBs using MIBImport tool with which you can monitor non-dell devices with SNMP traps. Refer http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/systems-management/w/wiki/3570.openmanage-essentials-mib-import-utility for more details.
You can find the latest support matrix of OME here: http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/dell-openmanage-essentials-v2.1_Reference%20Guide_en-us.pdf.
Thanks,
Vijay
