Open Manage not loading

When I try to run Open Manage the browser is "Unable to open site".  I have uninstalled and installed, tried several different browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox), checked firewall "settings", went through all the docs I could find but it will not load.

I have it installed on numerous servers with no issues, OS is Server 2016

Any Ideas??

Thanks,

Kenneth

Comtechnc,

Would you confirm what version of essentials you are using, I ask as I believe Server 2016 is only supported on the latest.
Also, why are you wanting to use OM Essentials over the other tools present?
I would double check the document here and verify you are within the specified parameters

Let me know.

Kenneth,

Sorry, I wasn't clear previously. What I meant was why you are wanting to use OpenManage Essentials, an older generation tool, rather than some of the new OpenManage tools like OM Enterprise or Support Connect Gateway? Is it required for your configuration or anything? I ask this as I think OpenManage Enterprise would be better geared for you.

So sorry for the late reply ..... I am installing 10.3.0.0, which was the most current up till a few days ago I see.  I have installed this ver. on other machines running Server 2016 w/ no issue ...... as well as other ver. of Win Server.

As far as other "tools" I am unaware of any other, but mainly it's what our CTO wants info from .... RAID / drive status mostly but the view it gives of any sever issue is what I need the most.  I can quickly check for any issues and get great details from the Open Manage app.

Thanks

Kenneth

So our CTO gave me a "task" to check the drive / RAID status for all our clients that are running Dell servers.  The OM "type" was what he showed me to use.  Is there any additional cost or such??  I am all for using better s/w ..... could that be the issue for these several machines??

Please send a link to the OM you recommend that I should be using ...... I will install and see if how it does.

Thanks

Kenneth

Kenneth,

The link to OpenManage Enterprise can be found here. The reason I was suggesting it is that Essentials is more geared to the individual system, where Enterprise is more geared towards monitoring/managing larger groups of systems.

Let me know how it goes.

I read through the info and the essentials is what I should be using ........ I am only wanting info from the one Dell server that is running the RAID, where the HDs are located.
So back to why just a few will not "load" OM ......... I have run your troubleshooter and it shows that OM is not installed, even though it is installed.

Also I have uninstalled several ways and it does not remove any folders ..... it appears to only remove the icon and under Start menu

With that said could the issue be in the registry??

I don't think it is a registry issue, but would you confirm something for me?

Would you provide me the link to the specific OpenManage software you are trying to load?

Also, something you may want to consider is deleting the apache tomcat folder from c:\program files\Dell\SysMgt, and then try running a repair on OMSA, as this can fix a few different issues.

If that still doesn't work then run the following and let me know what is displayed.

So check  tasklist | findstr -i dsm_om_connsvc

that will give you the PID of the services

example output:

dsm_om_connsvc64.exe          6560 Services                   0    125,752 K

Where as the 6560 is the PID

then run

netstat -ano | findstr -i 6560

After that then let me know what you see.

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=JP5X0

this is the link I'm using for download of OM

I deleted that folder then performed a repair .... It re-added the folder.  No change, OM will not open.

I tried running the cmd but findstr is not valid.  I ran tasklist /? and it shows about the PID but not clear to me how to "write" the correct cmd.

Thanks

Kenneth,

While I feel it is probably browser security, or something like that, I think we should consider you call in so they can look at it live to help solve it. So I would suggest you call in and ask for the OpenManage/Sysmgmt team so they can work directly on it.

So with these servers being out of warrantee support will not open a ticket .... which I expected anyway.  I have also ran the Dell Troubleshooter and it shows OM as not installed even though I just installed it.

So I found the PID, 16388 ...... I ran [netstat -a -o]  and that PID was not listed at all.

How can this be fixed??

Thanks

Kenneth
