OMSA agent vs agentless via iDRAC, running OME 2.4
Hello,
Is there anything the OMSA agent offers over the agentless iDRAC method now?
In the past the OMSA agent would give you a few more details about the machine and allow you to do out of band updates. We just spoke to a Dell tech that told us that starting with the 13th generation servers there is no reason to have OMSA installed as agentless can now do everything an OMSA agent can. We currently have OMSA installed on our VMware ESXi hosts and were planning on adding it to more servers.
I read this post and they mention OMSA is needed for out of band updates, but it is from two years ago: https://www.dell.com/community/Systems-Management-General/OMSA-vs-iDRAC8-Enterprise/m-p/4684350#M21966

Hi, thanks for the query.
Apart from OS driver updates, iDRAC (agent-less) supports all other management functionalities.

So the agent is still needed for software/driver updates. Good to know.
