OME and Drac Alerts

Hello,

I have several Idrac7 devices hooked up to OME.  As a test I pulled a hard drive from one of hte devices and went to see what happened.

OME saw that the state of the iDrac had changed to critical, but didn't state why.  In the alert logs i get this:

Device UnixTestSystem has changed status to Critical

There is no relevant information in the alert telling me that the drive has been removed.  Is this because we are doing Out of band management?  If i had OMSA installed and hooked up the machine that way would it give me more information in the alert?

Hi there and thanks for the question.

So that is just a state change alert....no details in that one.

I don't see that you got an SNMP alert from the iDRAC indicating the failure.

When you were setting up your iDRACS to be monitored by OME did you update the SNMP settings on your iDRAC to direct SNMP alerts to the ip address of the OME server?

1. Discover your iDRAC ip address using WSMan (not SNMP, just WSMan)

2. Change your iDRAC settings to direct SNMP alerts to the OME server.

That should help.

Thanks,

Rob
