OME Alerting
Hi,
I'm new to the community and wanted to inquire about the alerting setup with OME. My company just recently implemented this setup, and it's certainly a great tool to have. We currently have over 200 servers we monitor across the country, and I need to setup (if possible of course) alerts to be sent ONE time only. I am having trouble getting this to work. I have setup an ignore duplicate alerts, but they still continue to roll in. Is there a trick I am missing possibly?
We have multiple Sys Admins manage these alerts in different locations around the country, so anything past the initial alert becomes pure confusion to our current team setup, and will make email alerting something we can't even use.
If there is something I am missing and someone can point it out I'd be much appreciative.
Thanks

Hi and thanks for the post.
So did you try right-clicking on the alert to create the ignore filter? Which one of those did you pick? There are a few different kind.
Thanks,

Hi Rob,
Yes I did right click on the ignore filter, and it is basically the same setup as the actual alert filter we have for warning and critical events. It is set to ignore duplicates for the categories we have selected for alerting. I selected Yes, Only duplicate alerts that match this action will be excluded like the steps say to do. I do see the interval is 1-600 seconds though, and if I'm reading that correctly it is only going to ignore during that time frame? Very confused on that part. I basically want them ignored after the first alert sent to us forever. We'll have what we need with just one alert with all the eyes we have on this. Is this not attainable for us?
Thanks

Yeah, I was thinking you click on the No radio button on the 1-600 screen. Then I thought it would ignore it forever. You may run a quick test with that.

I believe you were correct on this solution Rob. I set this be selecting the No button for the radio as you said to do yesterday at 3:00 pm, and we have not had any alerts come through as of now. This is very helpful to us as each facility we've had alerts from can now be assigned to a Sys Admin to work them. The constant alerts were very confusing for us with our team members in different parts of the country.
Thanks for the assistance Rob!
