OME Alerting - Drive Failures
Hi,
Our current monitoring system doesn't allow us to track drive failures in a thorough way. I've set up an alert action in OME with triggers including alertPhysicalDiskFailure, alertControllerFailure and others. The action to e-mail the team if a drive fails however during testing (pulling a hard drive for example) the alert doesn't generate. If I look at the server logs within OME I can see Critical errors but no alert is raised. I take it this shouldn't be the case?
The alerts also don't show in the Alerts report in the Home Portal.
Is this normal?
Thanks
Dan

Thanks for the Post, Dan.
Please check for the following to receive SNMP alerts:
1) Firewall setting: Make sure to allow SNMP alerts to be received in to your OME from the managed node.
2) SNMP settings: Make sure to add the OME IP as the destination in your manage node.
Let us know if this helps.
Thanks,
Kavitha.

Hi Kavitha,
All of the above has been tested as working. We have other SNMP monitoring systems in place. OME is added and the server in question is managed by OME.
Thanks
Dan

Thanks Dan.
Please use the Troubleshooting tool (installed along with OME) to check if the OME system itself is receiving alerts.
TroubleShooting Tool -> Miscellaneous (Local Box) -> SNMP Trap Listener -> Select Windows SNMP Trap Listener -> Start.
A new commandLine Window will appear which shows all the received alerts by OME system.
If this window shows all the received alerts, OME should also receive. Please let us know.

Hi Kavitha,
Using the troubleshooting tool I was able to find a flaw in the Firewall policy for that server. An oddity as it's not on any of the others. Glad I used that one for testing!
Thanks for your help.
