OME 2.4 fails to install on Windows 2008R2

when I try installing OME 2.4 on a physical windows 2008 R2 it fails with "One or more mandatory prerequisites for Essentials are pending."
The prerequisite checker is blank, if I click rescan dependencies it remains blank, if I click Install Essentials I get the error "One or more mandatory prerequisites for Essentials are pending. Installation cannot continue. Run the Pre-requisite Checker for details."
If I run the prerequisite installer manually with setup.exe -p the install fails with an error "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: Password"

I also tried the advice in https://www.dell.com/community/Dell-OpenManage-Essentials/Resolution-OME-2-3-Installer-fails-with-error-that-one-or-more/m-p/5075976

I have tried running each of the batch files in the support directory manually, they seem to work but the install still fails with the initial One or more mandatory.... error.

Can anyone please help?

I tried running setup and prereq checker from version 2.2 and 2.3 but get the same error.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the query.

Please check if below is not the reason behind this:

If you are launching OpenManage Essentials installer from an UNC/shared path, you will not be able to install prerequisites from the OpenManage Essentials Prerequisites window. You must copy the installer files to the system or mount the shared folder path to assign a drive to it.

Hi Shivendra,

I have extracted the install files to a root folder on a local drive of the server, I have also disabled UAC and been running the installers as an Administrator.

Regards

Hi Patrick,

Please get in touch with Dell Support. They can take a closer look and help resolve the issue.

In the meantime, can you try installing on another VM / system and see if it works there?
