OME 2.1, iDRAC6, R610, Unclassified

I've attempted to Discover an Inventory a R610 with iDRAC 6 version 1.7.5.4 using WS-MAN and the device comes back as Unclassified and Health Status Unknown. I've tried resetting the iDRAC, enabling Collect System Inventory on Restart, and confirmed with the Troubleshooting Tool that the iDRAC is reachable via WS-MAN. I'm all out of ideas at this point and looking for suggestions?

Hello,

In order to add Server through IDRAC is recommanded for 12 or 13 Generation Server.

For R610, I suggest to use "Agent" like OpenManage Server Administror and perform new discovery throuhg Ip Operating System. :)

DELL-MIKA,

Thank you for the suggestion. I was under the impression that there is some information that is not reported when using OMSA, if that is incorrect I suppose we could use that method. The time required to install that on nearly 100 systems is no small task though, hence the desire to use the RAC. We have an R710 also with iDRAC 6, but an even older version (1.6.5.12) and it is discovered and inventoried just fine.

Everything sounds to be in order.
I've had success in the past by factory resetting the iDRAC of a system that would not fall in line, that means that you would need to reconfigure the whole iDRAC racadm racresetcfg is the command line for that.

If the system still is valid warranty you could also create a support ticket.

Thank you for the suggestion. We had been hoping to avoid that, but it's looking like our only option since support on the system itself is expired. If we were to install OMSA on the system would we still be able to connect to that  and then remotely re-config the DRAC after the reset?

When you install OMSA you will also get racadm installed and because you are already admin or root in the OS you are allowed to configure the iDRAC through racadm.

setniccfg -- modify network configuration properties

For IPv6 configurations
Required License -- IPv6

Usage:

racadm setniccfg -d
racadm setniccfg -d6
racadm setniccfg -o
racadm setniccfg -s
racadm setniccfg -s6

-d : enable DHCP
-d6 : enable DHCP6
-o : enable/disable NIC
-s : set static IPv4 address and parameters
-s6 : set static IPv6 address and parameters

For help on viewing the properties of a group, run the command - racadm help get

For help on configuring the properties of a group, run the command - racadm help
set
