OME 2.0.1 and Brocade M5424 fc switches
Hello,
i have problem with OME discovery/inventory abd Brocade M5424. 4 Brocades M5424 are set as access gateways in 2 M1000e chassis, problem is that OME discovery/inventory found them as one fibre channel switch with 4 ip addresses.
Inventory and discovery works fine with all other components of those 2 chassis, only fc switches have this problem.
M5424's have unique host names, unique ip addr. and snmp is set. even ome troubleshooting tool gives me ok result when testing connection on those fc switches.
Anybody with same problem? Can access gateway mode be the source of this problem ?
thanks for any help
martin

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the query.
Can you confirm the service tag reported by each of these 4 switches if discovered individually?
We are aware of an issue with Brocade switches when they report the service tag as "none" and get merged together in OME. Just want to make sure that is not the case here.

hello,
service tag is displayed as "none" on all 4 fc switches, even when i tried to discover them solo, one at the time with others blocked from discovery.
will this issue be addressed in some future patch ? i hope so :)
thanks for reply
best regards martin

Thanks for confirming!
The team is aware of this issue (as recently reported through multiple channels) and the fix will get implemented going forward. Cannot commit on dates at this point :)

Just wanted to add to this thread that we are seeing the same issue. We have 7 Brocade M6505s in 4 M1000E chassis' that appear to OME version 2.1.0.2635 as a single switch with 7 IP addresses. The service tag for the device in OME is "none". The service tags appear correct in the CMCs.

Hello folks,
Just to add more information on this thread. Brocade switch reporting service tag as "none" to OME (or any other console) is more of a Brocade firmware issue. Please get in touch with Dell Support if they can help out on that part.
All such switches merged into a single device is OME specific issue. We are aware of this and want to ensure that it will be part of next OME release.
As a result, with the fix, OME will not merge Brocade switches into single device and will list them separately. But, all of them will continue to display same service tag, i.e., "none".
I hope I made my point clear.
