Hi Ben,

Could you give some more information.

  • What version of OME are you using?
  • Do you use in band or out of band inventory
  • What is the firmware of the CMC?
  • Which Blade servers are you using?
  • What are the firmware versions of those blades?
  • Which protocols are you using to run the inventory?

Hi BENTECH4YOU,

Thanks for your post and glad to know you are trying out OME latest version 2.1.

When you do CMC discovery on a device, the inventory information will come under "Details" tab.

The "CMC Discovery" will not get information which comes under "Configuration->Inventory" tab.

If you are interested in Configuration Inventory, you can go to Manage->Configuration (tab)-> Getting Started for Compliance (Link).

More information about this feature is available in Deployment and Managing Configurations with Dell OpenManage Essentials  whitepaper located at www.delltechcenter.com/ome. You will get couple of videos around this feature and other OME capabilities.

Thanks,
Vijay

Hi Ben,

Make sure your M1000e CMC firmware is at least above 5.0, versions below do not support WS-MAN inventory.

Here is the latest firmware 5.11, http://dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/poweredge-m1000e/drivers

After that make sure you create a discovery range that has the CMC and iDRAC's in the range and select WS-MAN as discovery protocol.

Then fill out the credentials that have access on the CMC and iDRAC's (for instance user: root password: calvin)

If the iDRAC's have a different username and/or password fill out "Alternate WS_Man Configuration for iDRAC's"

I believe the inventory credentials in question is the configuration inventory credentials. If you navigate to Configuration tab, there is a link for configuration Inventory Schedule. You will be able to configure the inventory credentials there.

Hope this helps.
