Flextronics power firmware causes server to shutdown

We have been trying to install the Power Firmware for Dell Power Edge R720 Flextronics 750W PSU (PN: N30P9, 6W2PW & D5MW8)'Power_Firmware_GPWR2_WN64_6B.47.9B_A00.exe'

After running the installer, we get the following prompt

The version of this Update Package is newer than the currently installed version.
   Software application name: Power Supply
   Package version: 6B.47.9B
   Installed version: 69.45.99

Executing update...

Device does not impact TPM measurements.

Execution complete

The system should be restarted for the update to take effect.

However once the server reboots, its just doesn't power up. Since our servers are hosted in another data center, the IT personnel informed me that the server is completely powered off and there is nothing on the screen!

Is there any reason as to why after the reboot the server doesn't power up....

Hi Sheldon,

There is a known issue regarding the PSU update. Please take a look at: http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN294247/EN.

You can always contact support if the server is still under warranty for this issue.

Hey Martijn,

I tried the workaround in the article today by installing the Dell Repository and removing that update before exporting the catalog to the OME and it worked!

If its a know issue effecting some Gen 12 PSU's I guess Dell should have removed it from the Online Catalog, rather than the clients installing another program. More of a workaround then solution!
