Dell Openmanage Essentials Server Template deloyment

Hi all,

Could someone explain to me how it would be possible to deploy one template on many servers?
How are the unique settings like an IP address and hostname configured in the template?

There is lots of information to find about creating and deploying templates. However, I did not found any information about these unique settings.

Hi and thanks for the post.

It is possible to deploy one template to multiple devices.
After opening the deploy wizard, multiple devices may be selected. In the “Target” page, click “Select” and select devices in the “Job Target” dialog.
After selecting multiple devices, the “iDRAC Management IP” page allows the iDRAC Management IP to be assigned from DHCP or statically assigned in the wizard.
OpenManage Enterprise does not modify any other unique attributes.

Hi, thanks for the query.

From OpenManage Essentials perspective, this is sure possible and device specific settings like IP address, hostname, etc. are never replicated to deployment targets. In deploy wizard, there is a separate section on Edit Attributes page which lists all device specific settings/attributes, values for which have to be manually provided per target.

Following white paper covers this topic in detail, suggest you to keep it handy when working with this feature.
