Dell Open Manage not reporting Failed Disk
Hello,
I have installed and configured dell open manage to monitor all dell hardware devices that i have. I did the discovery using the IP address of the DRAC and found all the servers and it does report when a server is up or down.
Recently, i found out that some disk has failed and some were predicting to fail when i logged into the Drac of each dell server but there is no report of some sort on OME. i have gone through the troubleshooting tool to run test SNMP connectivity which was a success.
Can anyone help with this issues? What steps do i need to take to resolve this?

Hi, Thanks for the post.
Few clarifications to understand the issue better :
1. What are the servers you are monitoring using OME?
2. When you login in to iDRAC, do you see the alerts for disk failures?
Thanks,
Arun

Hi Arun,
1) these are dell servers mostly R710
2) Yes, i saw a disk failure in the IDrac and some predicted to fail

Thanks for the details. Lets double check some of the basic settings.
1. In iDRAC System -> Alert -> Trap settings, have you set OME ip address as one of the Trap destination address?
2. In the same page, can you trigger test SNMP trap and check whether OME receives it ?
3. Is the firewall of OME either configured to allow incoming SNMP trap ?
4. Have you seen any traps in OME console other than System up/down, connection lost ?
Just for information, system up/down events are OME's internal events, they are not actually generated by target server/idrac.
Thanks,
Arun

Hi Arun
1) yes i have set the OME IP address
2) I can see a green tick if i use SNMP 1 and unknown when i use SNMP2
3) Firewall is currently off on the OME server
4) I can see a system ups and down from most of the servers
On a side note, Do i still need SNMP?is WSMAN enough to get all the information?

Hi,
As of now OME is only capable of receiving SNMP based alerts only. WS-Man notifications are not supported.
WS-Man is used for discovery/inventory/system update purposes.
I assume for step 2 you have clicked on "send test trap" button, if you are able to see the trap in OME after that then there is no connection issues.
I would suggest to call support guys on this number 800-945-3355![Call: 800-945-3355]()
