DELL OME 2.1 iDrac6 and 7
I have 4 m710hd blades, 1 m710 and the rest is m620. All m620 comes up in ome with device name and os information, but all the m710 which uses idrac6 comes up with ip as name and no os information. I use only ws-man for discovery.

You will need to install the OMSA vib for ESXi.

ISM is only available for WIndows and Linux.

Hi Henrik,
Does the environment have a DNS setup? Can you perform a ping -a to the m710 IPs and check the response. OME uses reverse lookup to get the name of device. First preference is given to DNS name, then hostname of the device and if both are noth available, then we show the device with IP address in device tree.

Yes, we do have a DNS. I can ping the dns name but not a reverse. Reverse does not work on the m620 either but they come up fine. But then again they use idrac7. All config is the same on bothe m710hd and the m620 but the name displays on the m620 and only ip on the m710hd. Is there something different on the idrac6 vs 7 that cause this?

To be able to see the OS name you would need to install ISM or OMSA, see this whitepaper en.community.dell.com/.../20442041
